Damask Rose Oil – Rose is a well-known skin care ingredient which can soften and moisturise the skin. It also has antiseptic and astringent properties helping to manage oily and acne prone skin. It is also known to have an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin, along with a lush deep scent.

How I use it
In the morning I use two pumps of the product and massage it around my dry face for 30 seconds, avoiding my eyes. This acts as the first step in my double cleanse, an oil cleanse. Then I wet my face to emulsify the product. With contact with water the product turns into a delicate foam which is easier to rub around my face and acts as the second step in my double cleanse, a foaming cleanse. I then thoroughly rinse my face with lukewarm water and pat it dry.
My thoughts
I definitely like the convenience of this one-and-done product since it is a double cleanse in one. I usually use this in the morning when I am short on time, and it fits well into my routine. At first use I thought the scent was a little strong but after frequent use my nose got used to the smell. I can still smell the rose, it’s just not as strong as it was when I first used it.
When you first apply this product to dry skin it is initially difficult to spread and rub around your face and I am concerned about pulling and tugging the skin. However, when you emulsify the product with water, it suddenly becomes a lot easier to rub around your face making it easier to cleanse with.
I have ‘normal’ skin and I did not have a reaction when I used this product for the first time. After rinsing, it leaves my face nice and clean and not dry or tight which is great. The benefits of rose mean this product has potential to work for all skin types but I would be wary of how fragrance affects you. This product smells pretty strong for a face cleanser so please keep this in mind.
I would repurchase this mostly because of how convenient it is to use in my busy morning routine. It also works well with my skin, doesn’t dry it out, doesn’t cause a reaction and it is very gentle but effective. Overall, for me, it’s a great purchase.
