What I want to achieve (at this point) in my life…

I watched the 2016 film Hidden Figures the other day, and watching this story of three African-American women in 1960’s America, Katherine Goble-Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, simultaneously forge the path for America’s first astronauts with their brilliant minds, whilst battling racism, prejudice and inequality within the workplace and out, got me thinking about how I want to contribute to this world and what I want to leave behind.

I want to break down barriers and chart towards progress in my lifetime.

I want to help people and humanity achieve something great.

I want to inspire people to be the best they can be.

I want to open doors for people and bring into the room the brightest minds that are often overlooked.

I want to achieve something I can be proud of.

I want to work with people who are all running towards progress, compassion and something better in this world.

I want to have faith in humanity that we can achieve something good in this world, working together, helping each other and seeing the best in each other.

I want some optimism in this world which seems too dark at times.

I want progress.

I want us to work together without ego or prejudice getting in the way.

I want to achieve… something…

I already did a fair bit in my 20’s but I feel I am currently not following what I have said above, and I am eager to change that. So I march on, making decisions that will change my future, in the hope that one day my preparation and planning will steer me to an opportunity that will get me back on track.
